"The Doncaster Festival 2009 is a long overdue showcase for the next generation of home-grown talent, as well as many local creative businesses that are not stage-performers.

This will be a one day multi-cultural event as part of the county’s Yorkshire Day on August 1st, presented by major home-grown TV celebrity Chris Walker of The Bill and Doctors.

The event will celebrate and offer a platform to the wonderful array of creative skills and talent the Doncaster has to offer; all of whom are ready to take on the world given the exposure."

Line-up has been announced as follows:
Main Open-Air Stage in the Market Place
10.00am – Allegro Theatre Dance Company perform Ballet, Gymnastics, Jazz and Tap
10.30am – Ross Cameron – Singer Songwriter
11.00am – The Beaus
11.30am – The Incomplete
12.00 – Leona K
12.30 - Taurus Rap MC and DJ
1.10pm – Goodbye Good
1.40 – Strike - Martial Arts Acrobatics stars of Britain’s Got Talent
2.00pm – Drop Tank Racer
2.30pm – The Hub National Diploma Fashion Catwalk Show including local designers
3.00pm – Nate Christian with Guests Parly B and Nayben
3.45pm – Leona K
4pm – Finish

Further venues:
In The Masons Arms there will be a visual arts' workshop, art exhibition and BBQ in the back courtyard, and a Kids Disco with party tunes and Jugglers at Bar NY.
In the Minster Gardens there will be a display of artists work hosted by The Fringe and ArtFelt, as well as a performance of Fire-Breathing, Juggling and extreme stunts by Beyond A Joke.
Inside the Minster there will be a stone-carving demonstration by Doncaster College, and people are invited to join in. All these events are free to all, with a possible small charge for craft materials.

Throughout the Festival location various local creative businesses will have stalls displaying their work and skills, and also demonstrating what they do to the public; including photography, painting, crafts, music, designer clothing and much more.

On Friday 31st July at the Vintage Rock Bar, St. Georges St. there is a warm-up Festival showcase featuring Goading Goliath and Girlspit. Free entry from 8pm.

At Abenaki Bar 58 Hall Gate will host the Doncaster Festival after-show party featuring MC Taurus, Leona K (Soul singer), Tom Reed (Solo Guitar), The Jazz In Time Quartet and lounge party DJ’s – Free entry from 8pm

At The Regent Hotel on Regent Square we have a spoken word and comedy performance open mic night, music jam, storytelling and art exhibition – Free entry from 8pm"
