Sporting Doncastrians honoured at Cusworth Hall and Doncaster Museum this summer


Two new exhibitions have just opened at Cusworth Hall Museum and Doncaster Museum & Art Gallery


Our Sporting Heroes : A Century of Doncaster Olympians from 1908 to 2008

16th June - 16th September 2012

Have you ever seen an Olympic medal? Well at Cusworth Hall this summer you can see gold, silver and bronze Paralympic medals, two silver Commonwealth medals and a gold European Championship medal, as well as sporting equipment and Olympic memorabilia all won, used and collected by Doncaster's 11 Olympians and Paralympians.

Exhibition at Cusworth Hall, opening times 10.00am-4.30pm Monday-Thursday and 10.30am-4.15pm Saturday and Sunday

Standard Cusworth Hall admission charges apply

Doncaster's Sporting Clubs : a celebration of grass roots sporting clubs in and around Doncaster

9th June - 15th September 2012

Inspired by the clubs that nurtured Doncaster's 11 Olympians and Paralympians, this photographic exhibition celebrates grass roots sporting clubs in and around Doncaster. The exhibition also coincides with the Olympic Torch Relay as it passes through Doncaster and photographs capturing this event will form part of the exhibition. The exhibition is the work of Second Year Students studying for a BTEC Extended National Diploma in Photography at Doncaster College.

30/06/2012 - 01/07/2012 Teddy Bears Picnic at The Trolleybus Museum, Sandtoft






This weekend at The Trolleybus Museum in Sandtoft there is a Teddy Bears Picnic. 


The museum is open from 11am-5pm, and last admission is at 4pm. 


There will be lots to see and do, including: 



  • A selection of trolleybuses in operation
  • Cafe selling hot and cold refreshments and sandwiches
  • 1960's shop window displays
  • Motorbus tours
  • Digital presentations in the Lecture Theatre
  • 1950's/60's Prefab
  • Trolleybus simulator
  • Trolleybus displays
  • Souvenir shop
  • Nature trail
  • Childrens playground
  • Teddy bear treasure hunt
  • Best dressed Teddy bear competition
  • Quizzes and colouring in

Children accompanied by their Teddy bear receive FREE admission. 

All Trolleybus rides are FREE.

Admission Charges: Adults £7, Seniors £6, Children (5-15) £5, 
                            Family Ticket (2 adults & 2-4 children) £22

(Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash)

Doncaster's Sporting Clubs

An exhibition at Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery, Chequer Road

9nd June - 15th September 2012

A celebration of some of the many sports clubs in Doncaster, using images taken by students attending photography courses at Doncaster College.

The exhibition also includes the history and some memorabilia from each of the clubs involved.


Doncaster Camera Club

An exhibition in the Community Gallery at Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery, Chequer Road

 9th June - 28th July 2012

An exhibtion of photographs by members of Doncaster Camera Club, including landscape, still life and portrait subjects. The exhibition also includes some historic photographs in honour of the Diamond Jubliee of Queen Elizabeth II.


The art gallery is open Monday - Saturday. Admission free.
