The story of Doncaster from the dance floor
First dances at the Co-op Ballroom through to smooches at Top Rank. Boy on one side of the tracks meets girl from the other at Romeo and Juliet’s, whilst The Beatles play St James’s baths, the Sex Pistols storm Outlook and Bowie rocks Silver Street. Broken heels at Seventh Heaven to broken hearts at Parklands…
Taking in dance floor crazes and fashion trends, Dancehall is our story.

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July, 10am to 4pm
Cusworth Hall and Park, DN5 7TU
How did the First World War change family life at home? Sample wartime cooking, get hands-on with First World War objects, experience a soldier's training camp and meet the First World War nurses. Family friendly crafts and activities.
We need you to make this event a success! The following volunteers are needed:
• Craft volunteers. These volunteers will support Artfelt in delivering the family and craft activities.
• Cooking volunteers. These volunteers will assist volunteer Meryl White in delivering (and sampling!) the First World War cooking demonstrations.
• Great War on Tour volunteers. Help to deliver the Great War on Tour travelling roadshow, and give visitors the opportunity to discover more about Doncaster's war time history and get hands-on with objects from the First World War.
• Car park attendants. Guide traffic in to the carparks and direct visitors. Supervision by an experienced member of staff.
• Runners. These volunteers will get to sample all activities on offer and relieve other volunteers for breaks.
Snacks and tea/coffee will be provided.
To volunteer contact Victoria Ryves, Doncaster 1914-18 Community Engagement and Access Officer on Victoria.Ryves@doncaster.gov.uk or 01302 737339. Please indicate if you would like to volunteer for the full day (9.45am until 4.15pm) or a half-day (9.45am to 12.30/12.30 to 4.15pm)
